Limo pricing has a reputation for being deliberately opaque, and some of that reputation is earned. Quotes arrive with line items nobody explained, minimums appear after you have committed, and the number you were told over the phone is not the number on the invoice.
It does not have to work that way. Here is how Seattle limousine and car service pricing is actually structured, what moves the number, and what you should expect to pay.
The three ways Seattle car service is priced
1. Hourly, with a minimum
You book the vehicle and the chauffeur for a block of time and use it however you like — multiple stops, waiting between venues, a change of plan halfway through. This is how weddings, proms, nights out, wine tours, and corporate roadshows are priced.

2. Point to point
A flat fare from A to B — most commonly Sea-Tac to a downtown hotel, or a residence to the cruise terminal. You pay for the transfer, not the clock, which makes it the cheaper option for a simple one-way journey.

3. Custom and event pricing
Multi-vehicle weddings, corporate contracts, cruise-season group transfers, and construction or crew shuttles are quoted individually because the variables are too many to publish. See events or the seaport quote form.

What is charged separately

What changes the price
Vehicle class. A luxury sedan is the entry point; an SUV stretch limousine sits at the top. Size the vehicle to the group rather than to the aspiration — our capacity guide covers exactly what fits where, and picking the right size is the cheapest saving available.
Day and time. Saturday evening in June is the most expensive slot in the Seattle calendar. Tuesday morning is the cheapest. Wedding season and prom season compress supply across every operator in the region simultaneously.
Duration. Longer bookings usually carry a lower effective hourly rate once the minimum is cleared.
Distance and dead miles. A pickup in Snoqualmie for a downtown drop-off costs more than a downtown pickup, because someone has to drive the vehicle out there empty.
Lead time. Late bookings pay for scarcity, particularly during cruise season and the summer wedding run.

Five ways to bring the number down
- Book off-peak. Same vehicle, same chauffeur, meaningfully lower rate on a weekday.
- Right-size the vehicle. One Sprinter van beats three sedans on cost and on experience. Check the capacity guide first.
- Choose point to point when the trip is simple. If you are going from one place to one place and not coming back, do not buy hours you will not use.
- Book early. Especially for June weddings and Alaska cruise season.
- Give the full itinerary up front. Surprises cost money. An accurate brief produces an accurate quote, and an accurate quote is the one you actually pay.
A word on “cheap limo Seattle”
People search this, and it deserves a straight answer rather than a defensive one.
There is a genuine low end of this market, and some of it is fine — an older sedan from a small operator can be a perfectly good way to get to the airport. But price in this industry correlates closely with things you cannot see from a website: whether the operator carries proper commercial insurance, whether chauffeurs are background-checked employees or gig contractors, whether the vehicle has a maintenance record, and whether anyone answers the phone when a flight lands at midnight.
The honest advice is not “never book cheap.” It is: ask what the price excludes, ask whether the operator is licensed and insured in Washington, and ask what happens if the vehicle does not turn up. A quote that cannot answer those questions is not actually cheaper.
